Ridge View

This new home is a true reflection of its owners’ yearnings: beautifully crafted, highly energy-efficient and remarkably comfortable in all seasons, oriented to prioritize the site’s mountain view, and generously scaled rooms to enjoy gatherings with family and friends. Our scope of work for this project included architectural design, interior design, and landscape/hardscape design. We collaborated with our clients, assisting them in their decision-making to ensure that their expectations, outcomes, and budget remained in alignment.

The apparent conflict between the building site’s steep topography and the request to align each room to a view became the lightning rod around which concepts were explored with our client. By extending the building’s volume across the hillside and thoughtfully rotating the individual volumes, we were able to capture the view of Mt. Mansfield’s stunning beauty from each living space and bedroom. Consequently, the structure became dynamic in appearance and experience.

This project is an example of great collaboration between our team at the studio, our clients, and Steel Construction, the general contractor. It was truly a pleasure working on this project, and we wish for our clients to create lasting memories in their new home.
