CDG Welcomes David Koschak
It is our pleasure to introduce you to architectural designer David Koschak, the newest member of the Cushman Design Group studio. David brings over 10 years of diverse experience in residential and commercial architecture to our team. He has worked at architecture firms in Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Maine. He has completed the National Council of Architectural Registration Board's (NCARB) architectural experience program, and is currently in progress completing the Architect Registration Examination (ARE).
David’s interest in architecture begins with the question of how our homes and communities reflect the stories of our lives, and how these stories are impacted by what we build. His design intuition is informed by an artistic and fundamental appreciation of space developed while a graduate student preserving historic stone buildings in Italy, and during a stint as a carpenter while living in Pennsylvania.
Originally from rural Pennsylvania, David studied English and Environmental Studies at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, later becoming the university’s scenic designer. With an aim to combine his interest in environmental issues, design, and culture, he completed his master’s degree in Architecture at the University of Oregon. This program offered an emphasis on sustainability, architectural and cultural context, and a respect for traditional design, history, and craft.
David’s experience includes 5 years of academic projects with Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, a firm nationally recognized for its humane approach to modern design and craft. Additionally, he has worked as an historic architect for the National Park Service in Alaska, on commercial and multi-family housing projects in Vermont, and numerous residential projects in New York, Vermont, and Maine. David lives in Craftsbury, Vermont with his wife and son.
